~ "If you are at all connected digitally — e-mail, Facebook, Twitter, etc. — you know Dean Lofton. ..." click to read the article by Out and About blogger and social columnist Michael Barnes, of the Austin American-Statesman.

~ I'm honored to be included in the Austin American-Statesman's 2009 Fortunate 500: Music list along with my client and husband, jazz trumpeter Jeff Lofton.

WELCOME

Welcome and thanks for visiting! I'm a writer and publicist based in Austin, Texas. Using my 15 years of experience in advertising and marketing, I promote businesses, non-profits and artists making the world a better place - and I have fun doing it. I've written for daily papers, alternative weeklies, magazines and websites.

For the past year I've worked as the executive director of the non-profit Austin Independent Business Alliance, but I am resigning at the end of February to launch Dean Lofton PR. I'm currently available for consulting and small freelance projects and have openings for new clients in March. Please contact me for more information.

NEWS:

~ Writing Your Life as a Woman is a 4-week community writing workshop I've led for thirteen years where women put pen to paper and ponder their lives.

The class meets once a week for four weeks and is offered at two different times: Tuesdays, 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Wednesdays 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon. Classes are scehduled for February and March of 2010. The classes meet at a private home in South Austin. Click here for details or email me to register.

  • I was a guest on KEYE's We Are Austin Live talking about my writing workshops
and the benefits of a daily writing practice.

  • The Austin Chronicle said, "Need a nudge to get those creative juices flowing? Women looking for a casual, creative environment where they can share their words would do well to sign up for this motivating and positive experience."

~ Check out the profile Forrest Preece wrote about my work in the West Austin News.

~ My client (and husband) jazz trumpeter Jeff Lofton was ranked in the Austin Chronicle's Top 9 Austin Albums of 2009, and KUT's Top 10 Albums of 2009: DJ PIcks. Listen to some tracks at JeffLofton.com and see why the Austin American-Statesman said in his 1/15/09 interview:

Jeff Lofton Quartet Jazz to the People

"An aside for his musical peers: Lofton's site — jefflofton.com
is one of the cleanest, most informative Web presences I've ever seen for a local musician; his example is to be followed.
"
